It starts to get colder this high up. You travel past railroad junctions and cattle gates for miles, wondering "where are we?", only to be launched into the desolate distractions of the Canyonlands. Islands form out in the abyss of sandstone, drawing your eye and camera. Everything up in the Canyonlands may seem dead and gone, but inside the sandy soil lies plenty of organism that encrusts the entire region. On the endless dirt roads around the Canyonlands, you can follow this endless desert landscape and find the life within it.
